Flower ShopThe Retail Floristry program at South Seattle Community College is designed to provide students with immediate job skills in the floral industry. Florists or floral designers have the opportunity to work in retail flower shops, wholesale florists, garden centers, grocery stores, or may go into business for themselves.
Classes in shop operation, design techniques of buying and display take place in the student-operated flower shop on South Seattle Community College's campus. This unique classroom provides students with skills in floral design and in retail operation. Students learn to design fresh, dried and artificial flower arrangements for holidays, weddings, special occasions and interior settings. Students also gain real-life experience working with customers making over-the-counter sales, taking telephone orders and discussing custom orders.
