Garden Center

The Garden Center is located in the Horticulture Complex at the north end of the campus, next to the Arboretum and Chinese Garden. During spring quarter, the Garden Center will offer Saturday afternoon seminars on a variety of subjects. Pre-registration for the seminars is suggested. Seminar fees are $6.00 per person. Please telephone (206) 764-5323 for a full schedule and to register.

The Garden Center will operate until June 30, Tuesday through Saturday, from 10:30am 3:30pm. The Garden Center offers the following:

  • Tools
  • Shrubs
  • Unusual perennials
  • Houseplants
  • Broad leaf evergreens
  • Trees

The Arboretum is situated on a bluff at the northernmost edge of campus, overlooking Elliott Bay, with a panoramic view of the downtown Seattle Skyline. This 12-acre site was established in 1978 with support from the SSCC Foundation.

The site serves as a realistic outdoor laboratory for students to practice the skills and knowledge necessary for success in the horticulture industry. It also serves as a meeting place for garden clubs and service groups.

The Arboretum is open to the public during daylight hours, Monday through Saturday.

Seattle Chinese Garden

The Chinese Garden, will be located on college property adjacent to the South Seattle Community College Arboretum. Designed by a team of artisans from Chongquing, Seattle's Chinese sister city, its plans incorporate a classic Chinese location a rugged hillside with a view.
